WHAT IS SCRIBECHAT?
Scribechat is a weekly Twitter chat focusing on the more controversial aspects of writing, editing, marketing and publishing fiction and non-fiction in a changing industry. Topics for discussion are suggested by members of Scribblerati.com, the social network for writers and illustrators founded by Lia Keyes in October, 2009. Dedicated to honest and unflinching discourse on matters they feel passionate about, the Scribblerati welcome opposing views that are calmly and eloquently put forward.
WHAT IF I MISS A CHAT? IS THERE A TRANSCRIPT?
There’s a transcript tab in the navigation menu so you can catch up if you’ve missed a chat. A tweet is posted when the latest transcript is live. You’re welcome to carry on chatting past the official end time of 7 pm PT/10 pm ET but the official transcript will cut off at the end of the offical hour of the chat.
HOW DO TWITTER CHATS WORK?
Scribblerati member @inkyelbows has compiled a useful list of other writing chats and a helpful guide here.
My favorite tool for following chats is TweetChat. It’s a web-based application that allows you to enter your comments into a box without having to remember to add the hashtag that directs your comment to the chat. TweetChat takes care of that automatically. It also allows you to participate in more than one chat at a time by opening another tab for the second chat. My favorite.

HOW CAN I GET A COOL TWITTER BACKGROUND?
There are loads of resources for creating an interesting Twitter background, but one that I’ve used and like is Twitbacks
WHEN WAS SCRIBECHAT FOUNDED?
The first #scribechat ever was on New Year’s Eve, 2009.
