DIRECTORY: Editors on Twitter

SHOULD YOU HIRE A PROFESSIONAL EDITOR?

There is a wonderful article answering this question at the Writer Unboxed blog. I strongly advise you to read it in its entirety before you decide to hire an editor, and if you go ahead, check credentials and get referrals before you put your money down.  In my view, an editor should not be there to teach you how to write. There are classes and workshops for that and the best editors aren’t interested in teaching newbies; they help proficient writers wring the best from their work during a final pass before submission.
